IMX is a motivational program that allows swimmers across the nation to compare themselves to the thousands of other athletes in their age group. All you have to do is swim a combination of events, at least one time per season, and USA Swimming will automatically give you your ranking!
An IMX score is only established after a swimmer has swum all of the events (in the same course - SCY or LCM) required for their age group in a sanctioned meet since the start of the current season; both short and long course seasons start September 1 and end August 31 for IMX purposes.
The IMX ranking includes a series of five or six events at longer distances. Once you've completed the IMX program, you can find out where your IMX score ranks nationally, within your zone, within your LSC rank and on your club. Rankings in the program are based on Power Points for each event. Power Points is a system developed by USA Swimming and Hy-Tek.
The Annual South Carolina Select Camp that runs on one weekend in the month of September every year is based on IMX events and scores. The selection process for the camp is based on the LC results of the year it is being held. The swimmers age as of the 1st day of the SC LC State Championship is the age of the swimmer. The top ten males and females from 11-12s, 13-14s, and 15-18s age groups based on the following criteria qualify for the camp. For 11-12s the top ten IMX scores of males and females make the camp. If someone ranked in the top ten can not attend the camp than alternates will be substituted in, again based on IMX scores. For 13-14s and 15-18s the qualifications are as follows: The top swimmer in the following events with qualify for the camp in this order; 400 Free, 200 Back, 200 Breast, 200 Fly, 200 IM, and 400 IM, The four remaining spots will be based on IMX score. If one swimmer is selected in an event they are on the team and if they are ranked as a top swimmer in another event, the next fastest time/swimmer will be selected for that event. All alternates for the 13-14s and 15-18s age group will be selected based solely on IMX scores.

South Carolina Swimming Rankings:
To read the document above it is broken into sections.
-
The first section is the Swimmers score and their name.
-
The second section is their ranking as follows: National (where the swimmer ranks out of all of the kids in the nation in their age bracket), Zone (where the swimmer ranks in our zone, we are the Southern Zone which spans from VA to FL and TN to the coast), LSC (where the swimmer ranks in our Local Swimming Committee, South Carolina), Club ( how the swimmer ranks in our club, YSSC).
-
The third section is their gender, their age group, and their age.
-
The last section is their LSC (SC!) and our team name
-
**If you swimmer's name is not on the list it is because they only get a score when the complete the events below!
-
Each swimmer who earns an IMX score also earns a ceritificate from USA swimming! Have your swimmer ask your coach for it!
